Aftercare Instructions for Your Tattoo

Initial Care (First 8-24 Hours)

-Keep the dermal bandage on for 8-24 hours, depending on how much your tattoo weeps. It's normal to see blood and fluid collecting under the bandage. If a large amount of fluid builds up, change the bandage sooner.

Day 1

- Carefully remove the dermal bandage by pulling it slowly. Removing it under running water can help.

- Gently wash your tattoo with mild soap and water using only your hands—avoid using a washcloth. Pat the area dry with a clean towel.

- Apply a new dermal bandage, ensuring it covers the entire tattoo. Leave this bandage on for 4-6 days. If there is excessive fluid buildup during the first day or two, you can replace the bandage again, but only if necessary.

Day 6

- Remove the dermal bandage and wash your tattoo—again using only mild soap and water. Pat the area dry with a clean towel. Apply tattoo balm, such as Hustle Butter Deluxe (available for purchase at the shop), or an unscented hand lotion to your tattoo 4-5 times a day until the peeling process is complete. Your tattoo will flake and peel like a sunburn, with the flakes in color—this is completely normal!

Tattoo Healing Tips

Never Scratch or Pick Your Tattoo: Do NOT scratch or pick at your tattoo while it heals. Doing so may impair the healing process and permanently damage your tattoo.

No Swimming or Soaking: You can shower normally while the dermal bandage is still on, but avoid soaking the tattoo in a bath, pool, or hot tub. Once the dermal bandage is off (after about 6 days), continue to avoid swimming or soaking for the next few weeks. After one month, you can safely swim and soak without the bandage, but always protect your tattoo with sunblock if exposed to the sun.

Sun Protection: Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for at least a month. After that, use sunblock to protect your tattoo from fading.
